The Quixote: A Beacon of Beauty, Belief, and Investment on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis

The Quixote is a 3-story building that is both a physical and intangible beacon of beauty, belief, and investment on the near eastside of Indianapolis. The name “Quixote” is inspired by the story The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote de La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes and the main character’s, Don Quixote, ability to not only see and believe in the beauty and potential of those he encountered but how his belief would manifest in those around him as they began to adopt his vision themselves, even if for just a brief moment. To honor this romantic approach to life, The Quixote is intended to be a home for investors, operators, business owners, and, most importantly, neighbors to come together, see far for the eastside of our city, and compound their social capital and talents to lift up our neighborhood and community.

Formerly known as the Neidhammer building where the Walsman family successfully launched and operated near eastside staples in both Neidhammer Coffee Co (still in operation at the building) and Neidhammer Weddings & Events (no longer in operation at the building), The Quixote is a rebrand and expansion of the Walsman’s investment by bringing new offerings to life, including 35 private offices, shareable coworking space, bookable meeting space, and a revamped event venue under the management of a proven operator and owner, Addison Newell and Prevenient Management.

What the Community Can Expect in the New Layout of the Building

  • 1st Floor: Retaining and investing in the coffee shop on the first floor to continue serving as a vital gathering space for the near eastside.
  • 2nd Floor: Taking the once large open space, with ample natural light, and creating 15 private offices and a bookable boardroom for Quixote members and even external individuals and companies to book.
  • 3rd Floor: In place of the former wedding venue, a large mezzanine will be built that wraps the east, north, and south walls of the entire floor, creating a balcony that adds gravitas to events, while also creating the opportunity to stack larger offices throughout the entire floor, 20 in total.

In total, the building’s composition will reflect a growing coffee shop, 35 total office spaces ranging from 50 to 250 square feet, a layered event space for up to 100 people, affordable coworking offerings for those who desire beautiful workspace without being nickel and dimed or long-term committed, and meeting rooms and boardrooms that are available by the hour, day, or simply included in any form of membership.

The small investor group that are putting their resources behind this endeavor are excited to join the long-standing efforts in this part of the city from other near eastside organizations like the Englewood CDC, Willard Park Neighborhood Association, the Damien Center, and many others to continue to build up people’s ability to work, play, and live in the near eastside of Indianapolis.
